Current practice of fracture related infection is ever evolving. The socioeconomic cost of treating infections is high and both burdensome to the patient and society. New and updated techniques are emerging as potential methods to decrease that cost, including single-stage surgeries, antibiotic coated implants, biologics and injectable technologies. The purpose of this breakout is to provide the surgeon with the most up-to-date techniques and evidence to help guide their treatment of fracture related infections.

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

Identify short comings in current strategies to treat infection.
Learn about emerging techniques and strategies to improve patient care and eradication of infection.
Understand the role of emerging techniques combined with traditional techniques in you practice.
